This award is given to recognize distinguished service by a registered adult scout of the Orion District whose efforts have benefited a large number of Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, and Venture Scouts over time. This nominee has helped instill the Scouting values in the youth of the unit and has given substantially of their time and talent well beyond what is customary for a Scout Leader in their registered position, by demonstrating the highest levels of leadership and service. A nominee must be a registered Scout leader within the District. This nominee has completed training for their position in Scouting. This award recognizes everyone in a household is involved in Scouting, and devotes more than their 1 hour a week to the scouting community. The extra effort that a family puts forth in addition to their family responsibilities, deserves to be recognized. This family is very active in the scouting community. Not only are the scouts (Cub, Troop, Crew, or Ship) very involved and set an example but their parents are an important part of the process as well. This family goes above and beyond by helping all scouts beyond their own. The family lives by the scout oath, law, and motto in all aspects of their life. This award recognizes a registered adult scout in the Orion District who is a single parent and has rendered outstanding service “above and beyond” to youth in Scouting. This recognition appreciates the efforts of the single parent and all the demands put on them. They must be a registered Scout and a single parent during the entire time period they gave distinguished service to youth. This nominee has completed training for their position in Scouting. This award recognizes a registered Scout in the Orion District that continues to serve the BSA program even though their own children are no longer in the Scouting program or who currently have no children in the program. This nominee has demonstrated the highest levels of leadership and service to the scouting program. This nominee has completed training for their position in Scouting. When both husband and wife in the same household are involved in Scouting and in addition to their family responsibilities go “above and beyond” in their service to youth in their scouting district and community are deserving of this recognition. The nominees (wife and husband) must both be registered Scouts within the Orion District who exemplify Scouting’s ideals in their everyday life and who believe in the importance of the Scouting program. Cannot have the function of one without the other. They both have completed training for their position in Scouting. One award recommended (up to discretion of the awards committee may be 0-2).
